MY PHILOSOPHY: Living your best life does not have to be a cliché, but can be your reality. Is something holding you back? By exploring your experiences, beliefs, thoughts, and emotions and connecting them to the story you tell yourself about your life, we can develop a more satisfying story. Whether you are experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, low self-esteem, loneliness or more – I am here to listen and to support you.

I provide a safe space for you to think out loud to explore your emotions and life circumstances. In my approach, I take the time to get to know you on a deeper level to truly understand your challenges and your strengths. I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet your unique needs and to develop specific attainable strategies to move you closer to your goals. I recognize how challenges arise from experiences with oppression based on race, ethnicity, color, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, and different abilities, and will support you in advocating and working with you to obtain the systemic support you need. Through this approach, I will equip you with the right coping tools to build resilience and increase your confidence. Together, we can work towards the change you want to see in yourself and in your life, such as functioning more comfortably, attaining a better work-life balance, and feeling more connected in your relationships.

SERVICE PROVIDED: Psychological Assessment (Children, Adolescents, and Adults), both in-person at Washington DC office and via telehealth

MY PHILOSOPHY: Is your child putting in their best effort, but still can’t get the grades they want? Are they struggling to keep up with their classmates even though they are quite smart? When they work on projects and tasks, do they often miss a step or forget to hand things in and lose credit? Is your child trying to connect with peers, but having trouble building lasting friendships? Have you, or others close to you, wondered whether you might have ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, a learning disability, or another mental health condition?

Parents know when their children are not keeping up, and are not able to be their best selves. I offer testing that answers your questions, helps your children get on track, and provides you with the information you need to understand and support your child.

The psychological evaluations I provide are tailored to your needs and concerns. The evaluation will allow me to provide you with evidence-based recommendations that are achievable and help your child attain their highest level of functioning. My goal is to instill hope and optimism in you, and to help you meet the everyday, short- and long-term goals of your child and your family overall.

EXPERIENCE: I am a Licensed Psychologist and have accumulated over 15+ years of experience as a school psychologist. A native Washingtonian, I began my career as an elementary school teacher and taught for nine years. I became a School Psychologist to impact academic growth and help children understand and access the mental health supports they may need. To that end, I have provided a range of psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults in school, home, hospital, community-based, and forensic settings.

SERVICES PROVIDED: Therapy and Testing

LICENSED IN: DC and Maryland, and can see clients in PsyPact states virtually (40 states, see Psypact.org)

MY PHILOSOPHY: I am a Clinical and Sport Psychologist, and Owner of Warner Psychology Associates. For over twenty years, I have provided therapies and psychological assessments to athletes, children, adolescents, college students, and adults.

My therapy style is collaborative and strengths-based. I will partner with you to identify what is and isn’t working, set goals, tap into your strengths, and find understanding and solutions that make sense to you. The therapies I provide are personalized and based on your unique identity and needs. Race, culture, all identity factors, and life experiences are valued, and incorporated into treatment for every client. The therapies I offer will help you tap into the root of your problems, build on your strengths, and learn new skills so you can make meaningful change and feel more control in your life.

I tailor my educational and psychological testing to each individual client. My testing answers questions and provides a landscape of your strengths and weaknesses. The assessments not only detect the problems and patterns, but also get to the root of the issue. You will leave with personalized, practical, and relevant recommendations and a roadmap to follow, with the goal of improving performance or adjustment in school, sports, relationships, and personal coping.

EXPERIENCE: I received my Ph.D. in Clinical/Community Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1994. I am a Licensed Psychologist in Maryland, and Washington, DC. I also hold a PsyPACT license, which allows me to provide virtual telehealth sessions in over 40 states.

My speciality areas include learning and school-related issues, athletes, and Black Women Who Do Too Much.

My career-long focus on schools and learning actively informs the psychological assessments I provide. I have specialized training in providing school-based mental health services. All of my therapy and testing services have some interface with learning and finding one’s way within the academic setting. Understanding and tending to all aspects of the school environment, including academic and learning variables as well as emotional, behavioral and social components, are essential to enhancing all students’ well-being.

My current focus is providing therapies and psychological evaluations for athletes. My speciality is Football, although I enjoys working with all sports. I work extensively with the University of Maryland, College Park Athletic Department as well as other local universities and high schools with competitive athletic programs. The therapies and evaluations I provide take athletic, academic, emotional, and personal variables into consideration; all of these variables impact the adjustment, identity, and success of the athlete.

I also connect well with and provide therapies to other Black women, many of whom are “Black Women Who Do Too Much.” These are women who are often overextended and exhausted because they are managing multiple demands for themselves and others all at once. There is pressure to do all of this and to do it flawlessly, and this juggling act eventually takes a toll. The historical, cultural, and societal expectations and pressures are real. The goal of therapy with me is to help find a more comfortable balance, to have a say-so and sense of control, increase self-care, restore peace of mind, and improve one’s overall health and mental health.

CLIENT FOCUS: Psychological Evaluations: Athletes, Children/Adolescents, College Students Therapy: Athletes, Adolescents, Black Women Who Do Too Much

TYPES OF THERAPY: Systems, Humanistic, Psychoanalytic, Solution-Focused, Racially and culturally responsive interventions.

THERAPY ISSUES: Athletes and Student Athletes – Specialty area: Football Juggling multiple demands of sport, academics, family, and relationships Managing distractions to sports performance Athletic identity Reducing anxiety and depression, and increasing overall well-being
